Aircraft engineer and historian Barry Latter will discuss power plant advances made between 1927 and 1957. In the 20s, aircraft designs relied almost exclusively on air cooled radial engines. Water-cooled V-12 technology prior to WWII enabled more streamlined cowls but coincident vulnerability to a leaky coolant tank or line. Conversion to turbines enhanced aerodynamics, reliability and power. Join Historic Flight to trace the progression in slides and exhibits.
